I have been involved with horses all my life both in the UK and abroad. I currently still have six horses but after a serious riding accident I can no longer ride. I now spend my time judging, breeding, producing and driving; mainly miniatures but have a three year old cob cross who looks like he has the potential.
Since retiring I have decided to devote more time to equestrianism and whilst the judging has increased, including recently passing my assessment for the British Show Pony Society I do enjoy the showing side. It is in this capacity that I have joined a well-established friendly firm of Trophy suppliers to promote the equestrian side of the business.
I am very happy to say that securing the Official Supplier to Horse of the Year Show as my first account was quite an achievement and a challenge as everything else I now do will be with that standard behind me.
The grassroots side of showing still has my passion as I firmly believe we must invest in the ones coming up or there will be no HOYS or RIHS. The riding clubs I supply to have very varying budgets and the usual struggle for funding, but with the variety of goods we carry we can supply to meet their needs.
With the prospect of trade stands at the biggest horse shows and Sunday mornings at local shows the future is bright and exciting!!!
